about

I was checking out some of the music posted by the Improv Friday musicians and found that some had put out albums of shorts. These were improvised tunes of 2.5 minutes or less. I took that idea and thought: What if I were to do an improvised performance of shorts? Record 22 improvised songs, under 2 minutes each, back to back just as if I were doing a live performance. I plugged my Fender Standard Jazz with EMG JX pups and Rotosound 77 flats right into my laptop and recorded to Audacity. The only "production" was to normalize the tracks, trim the start and stop points and add a touch of echo to make it more "roomy". No punch-ins, edits, or fixes. This is a live performance . . . I just didn't have an audience at the time I performed it.

about

SmittyG on Bass Texarkana, Arkansas

Glenn "SmittyG" Smith. I have been playing bass since the early 80s but did not start performing until 2003. In 2006, I started the Narada Weeps project for recording and performing my original improvisational ambient groove jazz music. I've performed shows solo, as duets and up to six-piece bands. Looking to get some CD ideas I've been kicking around recorded and out to the public. Enjoy! ... more
